What NOT to try at home

Our house has a hot tub outside.
Last week was my first time in the hot tub. But it didn't go exactly as planned.......

We were in our swimsuits and bathrobes with one towel for the both of us. My Dad fixed it up and took me outside. My bare legs were FREEZING! And when I took off my bathrobe off and set it on our porch rail it almost blew away! I literally jumped up and into the tub.

"It's hotter than hot in here!" I yelled.
Next was Mom. She was freezing just like me.
Anyway, we were up to our necks in hot water. Anything ABOVE our necks were super cold. That meant our faces were cold as could be.

After a bit my Mom was using the 'safety' side of her mind and she told me she was afraid of the fact that we were in hot water outside in the freezing cold with the wind blowing all around us.
She told me to hop out of the hot tub, put on the shoes I had brought out, dry off with the towel, wrap myself into my bathrobe, race inside the house and tell my Dad.

I searched around for the towel.....Of course it wasn't there.
So I hopped out anyway, found that it takes more than a second to slip wet feet into crocs, found the towel stuck in a place on the hot tub, grabbed that and my robe and ran inside.

I watched from inside as my Dad helped my Mom out of the hot tub.
And only then did I remember something.....I, in my crazed rush, had taken the ONLY towel and my bathrobe inside with me. My bathrobe was a necessity at the time but I didn't leave the towel with my Mom.

My teeth were chattering and my face felt like a freezing cold block but I was okay.
When my Mom had been getting out she had grabbed a metal bar and for a few seconds her hand stuck to it and then her swimsuit. But she was okay too.

When I dressed into my clothes I told myself, "It was nice and warm....Under the water."
My teeth continued to chatter for about ten to twenty more minutes afterwards.

So NEVER, EVER go outside into a hot tub at night in the freezing cold of ten degrees and expect to be enjoying the weather.

Happy Valentines Day!

I might be one day late in writing this post but, hey, who cares?
I wore a pink shirt with hearts on it for Valentines.
I didn't send any cards to anyone by accident. Oops! But oh, well! There's always another year!
I created these little Valentine pictures with Photoshop. I think they're really cute.
What do you think?
Of course, Drawing with a 'mouse' instead of a pencil is kind of hard!

All of these hearts represent my family. The white heart above every other heart represents my little sister who is now in Heaven with Jesus.

Two special pets minus one equals.....

A big amount of Heartbreak, right? A person gets sad when one of their pets passes on, don't they? I did. And today, at 2:39, one of my guinea pigs, Maya, passed away. This morning my sister went to feed Inca and Maya, our two guinea pigs, and found that Maya wasn't moving around. She was breathing but staying in one spot. We checked on her frequently and even called a Vet.
He came at 2:00 and looked at her. He said that it might have been Scurvy. Maya's front legs were hurting. He gave her a Vitamin C injection and something happened. She wasn't moving and her heart wasn't beating. Not once. The Vet said that he might have shocked her a bit. Poor girl.

Guinea pigs usually live 5-7 years. But God chose to take Maya into His arms. She's safe in Heaven. If animals do go to Heaven that is. But Maya was special to us. It's hard for me to grieve over a loved pet.

Once I had only one guinea pig.
When I got Inca at a pet shop I found out that she was in the cage with two male guinea pigs. I brought her home and one morning I heard a squeal from her. Sure, guinea pigs oink, squeal and all that but this was different. I saw two other figures in her little house. I called my dad and my family and I checked it out. They thought it might be mice but we saw two Adorable baby guinea pigs with new mama Inca.
One of them, a boy, we named Aztec. The other, a girl, we named Maya. Aztec was all black with a little white on the tip of his nose. Maya was black and white.

We used to clean the guinea pig cage and take the guinea pigs outside to eat some fresh grass. Well, I guess we left them out a little too long. Aztec's black fur attracted the sun's rays and eventually was too hot. Too hot to live anymore.
We buried him in a cardboard box in the backyard. Someday I hope to go back to that house and see his grave.

Now I only have one precious piggy. I thought of myself as a Mom and Grandma. Inca was my baby and Maya and Aztec were my grandpigs. Now my grandpigs are gone and I'm grieving for my newly lost one.

I made this my laptop's desktop photo.
Sweet little Maya.

Inca and Maya together. They were always
so sweet and cute. Now only one. Sniff.

I'll miss little Maya dearly. My last grandpig and not here anymore. My exotic babies. My little cuddly piggies. Learn to go on with Life without forgetting a loved one. Even a family pet.

Camera cases with style

What is one of the most important thing to have as a photographer besides the camera? Most likely it's the camera case.
My camera case has saved my camera from breaking and I'm grateful for that! I don't know what I'd do without it.
If you don't have some sort of case for your camera, you're going to need one. Soon. You know that your camera cannot protect itself from concrete, wood, and other hard things so a case is like a knights armor.
A case sort of 'cushions' your camera.

If you don't have a case or you think yours is getting outdated or just a little too old you will most likely need a new one.
Sturdiness is probably first. You have to make sure that something is worth the price before you buy.
You would have to choose between style, old-fashioned, or in-between. Then the pattern. Plaid? Stripes? Animal 'fur'?
And of course, the budget. The price is where someone might get disappointed. Say that a person has been shopping online for a new camera case. Well, after a long search the item is found. Everything about the case is as perfect as it can be and just when the person is about to click Buy......$89.00?!
Ouch! And, yes, it's true. Pricey, huh?

Jill-e.com has some stylish and sturdy camera cases/bags ranging from about $30.00 to about $250.00.

Amazon.com also has some wonderful varieties of case. The one pictured below is one of my favorites. Maybe I should buy a new camera case like this one!
Note: Fits cameras 4 inches by 3 inches.

Of course, any sturdy camera case would do. It can be any kind you need. Just use your imagination.
