Opened Clouds

My Dad drove me and my little brother to my Grandma's house, and it was slowly growing dark.  I bring my camera nearly everywhere I go, so I put it to good use on that long road trip and took a lot of photos before the sun completely disappeared.  This is one of those photos I captured.

Happy end of January !

A Beautiful Orange Sunset

On our way to Church this week, we stopped at a Dollar General so my little brother could buy something really quick.  He wanted to show it to our "Church Friends".  While we waited, I saw how orange the sky was getting (more than it usually does).  I took my camera and telephoto lens out of the case and snapped about 30 photos of the sunset.  It was so much more beautiful in real life!

Measuring Cups

These are some measuring cups that my Mom received as a gift.  A couple days ago, I was on a "macro spree" with my dSLR.  Anything close-up that caught my eye was photographed. This was one of them.

Five Days In Uganda

From January 27th through the 31st, Compassion Bloggers is returning to Uganda after five years of sharing stories of helping impoverished children.  In five days, through blog writing, the goal is to have 400 children sponsored.

That's not a very big number, is it?

For only $36 a month, you can give a child in poverty the opportunity to hear and learn about Jesus, a good education, hygiene training, health care, good meals and a caring, safe and Christian environment to grow in.

Over 1 million children have been sponsored through Compassion International since it began in 1952.  Of the goal for 400, over ten children have already been sponsored!

Somewhere, a little boy or girl is needing the love of Jesus.  They need to know what real love and hope is.  You can give them the care they need if you choose to sponsor an impoverished child through Compassion.

Click this link here for more info about the 2014 trip to Uganda, as well as a Trip Banner that you can share on Pinterest, your blog, or Facebook.

Just imagine living on $1.25 a day.  Wouldn't you want someone to help you and tell you about Jesus?

Now is 400 really a big number?

Saturdays Selections

Romans 1:16 is one of my favorite Bible verses.  It reminds me to never be afraid to show Jesus to someone.  And one time, a person asked me about my cross necklace!  I wear it every day and I'm hoping my reactions are showing the reason why I wear it.

The Peacock Coffee Mug

This is my Mama's coffee mug.  She bought it at a Cracker Barrel store because she likes almost anything peacock.  It's her coffee cup, but I like taking photos of it anyway.  :)

Pizza: It's What's For Dinner

My Mom doesn't always make homemade pizza, so she'll sometimes pick up a frozen one at ALDI for lunch.  I honestly like the homemade one better, but frozen isn't so bad.  My Mom can bake a billion times better than any person at Digiorno or Pizza Hut any day.

Time's Ticking Away

It's good to use our time wisely.  I hope this photo is a good reminder to use our lives for Jesus every second we can.  To do that, I think, is one of the most important ways to show Him to the world.

Faith, Hope and Love Abide

This is my Mom and Dad's wedding candle and Willow Tree figurine.  If they hadn't met each other, I wouldn't be here.  This photo is for them.

The Bridge And The Friend

This is a photo of one of my friends taking a photo of a bridge with her friend's Olympus camera.  On the way back from that place, we exchanged photos.  She said, "Wow...you can see the photo I'm taking!  That's cool."  I thought I'd put this on The Godly Photographer for her.  :)

The Garden Duck

My friend and I took a trip to our city's park/garden area last Summer (yeah, I do like using older photos sometimes).  This duck was standing on a rock ledge near the pond, and she let me get close to her and take a few photos before she followed another duck into the pond.

Ukulele Headstock

My parents bought me a ukulele for Christmas, and so far I've learned two songs: a song my friend taught me, and Somewhere Over The Rainbow...my brother is getting tired of me switching back and forth.  He told me, "Can you please learn something new?"  I said, "I'm trying!  I just can't think of anything yet."  I'm possibly going to try my favorite hymn, Wonderful Grace Of Jesus.  My sister and I sing the refrain while we do the laundry.  We like to sing it high. :)

Evening Chickadee

Last week, I pulled on my hoodie and gloves and went outside in the cold, looking for some last-minute shots before the sun went down.  A few chickadees were flying onto the trees lining our side yard, so I decided to take some photos of them with my telephoto lens.  Some came out blurry, and in other photos, the birds had already flown out of view and onto another limb.  But this photo was one of the few that came out very well, to my delight.  The sun went down just as I finished taking the last of my photos.  I was pleased to find this one when I emptied my card...my grandma gave me a belated Christmas present: a 32GB camera card.  My 4GB card broke a few days before she came  (it was extremely old!), so I was super excited when I received it.

Opossum

I found this opossum in our field.  I was already using my telephoto lens to take photos of chickadees perched on high limbs, so I was able to safely take close-up photos of the opossum from a distance.

Snow Stars

Last night, it snowed a lot.  I've always wanted to take photos of snowflakes like the photos shown in past Nature Friend magazines I've received in the mail.  I tried and failed  (my dSLR isn't the best at macro shots), but resorted to carefully holding my camera lens upwards and blindly taking photos with the flash on.  The tiny snowflakes I couldn't see actually came into focus with the flash.  Although I wasn't able to do what I had originally planned to, this was equally as fun.
If you have some tips on how to take photos of snowflakes, please comment below.  I would love to know how to do it.
